George Washington had served in the British military. I was unable to find any statement by him saying that the British government should reduce taxes. He was not happy with the British closing Boston harbor and killing colonists. And the colonists had tried on several occasions to talk to the British government. He felt military action was needed.

George Washington believed that asking the British to just reduce taxes was the wrong course of action because they would only be asking for a temporary relief and not their rights.

According to Washington it was of no use to petition the British on the issues of taxes. He felt it was unnecessary at that stage, what he wanted the people to do instead was to fight for their God given and constitutional rights.

According to him, the British had no rights to put their hands in his pockets demanding for money. To this, he urges the people to stand up for their rights against the British.
