K is a variable, and you have to end up with 7 so what times 7 equals 7? The answer is 7, K equals 1.
As long as you do the same process on both sides of the formula, the answer remains the same. Let's just say 1=1 . If you multiply the left by 4, you also have to multiply the right with 4, otherwise the equation is false. The same goes for this. You need to get a formula that equals k. If it is 7k=7, you must divide both sides by 7 (7/7= 1, you always need a coefficient). And you can work it out, because 7 is dividable by 7, thus 7/7k=7/7, making k=1
