Instead, I would like you to tell me what they feared and who they feared or who they were worried about.

Results of their fears:

They didn't learn about new discoveries in other places, so they couldn't build on them.
They didn't have access to products from other parts of the world.
They didn't get the benefits of inventions and improvements in transportation and manufacturing.
They were protected from the spread of some diseases.
They were able to keep their cultures free of outside influences.
They did not share philosophical ideas with the rest of the world.

When worldwide exploration became more popular, Christians started ending out missionaries to convert and educate people about Christianity. This 'new' religion came to China and Japan and within a few years it became widespread. When new rulers came to power they wanted to ban this religion, any missionaries, and all Europeans, they believed this religion would threaten their national unity.
