for: some people tend to feel safer when higher officials who “solve” crime are present, making people happier they are safe. they can be doing nothing and people would feel at ease knowing if something happens, the police are there to solve the problem
against: police and crime commissioners have too much power, in fact they control the people and abuse it. minorities and poc tend to feel unsafe when police are around bc they use more of their power to control them with fear
