the square root can be rewritten as the exponent of 1/2 or 0.5, and because x-3 is all under the square root, it can be written in parentheses as = (x-3)^1/2
when your trying to convert from square root to exponent imagine the 2 outside of the square root and an exponent of 1 already attached to the value inside
same goes for when the square root is asking for 3 instead of 2 you would just have to convert te exponent to (random value)^1/3
