The first photograph is made up from the element bitumen. In 1842, it is narrated in the history that the camera core is placed within it a polished pewter plate covered bitumen of Judea which is a derivative of asphalt manufactured from petroleum.
That photograph, formed on the surface of a lithographic rock, was later effaced. In 1826 or 1827 he again snapped the same scene, the view from a window in his house, on a coat of bitumen-coated pewter. The effect has survived and is now the oldest known camera photograph yet in presence.
