Why does compact bone have canaliculi, but spongey bone does not?
A) spongy bone does not have osteocytes, unlike compact bone.
B) Spongy bone does not require a blood supply.
C) Nutrients and waste cannot diffuse through spongy bone
D) Nutrients and wastes cannot diffuse through compact bone.

Respuesta :

the answer is A: spongy bones doesnot have osteocytes, unlike compact bones

Answer:

C) Nutrients and waste cannot diffuse through spongy bone

Explanation:

The bone tissue is a connective tissue of two types. These are compact bone and spongy bone. The compact bone is made of its unit called osteon or Haversian system. The Haversian System consists of Haversian canal, lamellae, lacunae. The lacunae are joined together by very small channels called canaliculi. The canaliculi provide passage by which nutrients reach to the osteocytes and waste products can leave from canaliculi. Whereas, spongy bone does not have osteons. Spongy bone consists of thin columns of bone called trabeculae.
