(1) How did Democritus characterize atoms?

(2) How did Dalton advance the atomic philosophy proposed by Democritus?

(3) What instrument can be used to observe individual atoms?

(4) In your own words, state the main ideas of Dalton’s atomic theory.

(5) According to Dalton’s theory, is it possible to convert atoms of one element into atoms of another? Explain.

(6) Describe the range of the radii of most atoms in nanometers (nm).

(7) A sample of copper with a mass of 63.5 g contains 6.02 × 1023 atoms. Calculate the mass of a single copper atom.

My answers:

1. As indivisible and indestructible
2. By using experimental methods
3. A scanning tunneling microscope
4. Answers should include the ideas that all matter is composed of atoms; atoms of different elements differ; and chemical change involves a rearrangement of atoms.
5. Atoms of one element are never changed into atoms of another element as a result of a chemical reaction.

How would I solve 6 and 7? I really have NO ideas where to start.
