1. National zoo of La Republica Dominicana is located in Santo Domingo. Animals of the zoo came from South America and Europe. The Dominican Republic is blessed with many different yet peculiar range of animal life.
2. Eugenio De Jesús Marcano Fondeur (1923-2003), was born in Licey al Medio, Santiago de los Caballeros. He was a botanist, entomologist, herpetologist, speleologist and Dominican researcher. He made great and significant contributions to the natural sciences when he entered malacology, geology, botanical toxicology and paleontology. His main course of study is zoology and anatomy.
