The return on investment (ROI) from education is typically the highest for higher education.
Getting a 4-year college degree is expensive, but history and current data have shown that income levels are much higher for college graduates as opposed to those who only have a high school degree.
According to current figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, median income for persons who have a four-year college degree is $1,137 a week. Workers with only a high school diploma average much less than that -- $678 weekly.
And the gap is greater if you look at those who get advanced degrees like a masters or doctorate. Those who have earned a doctoral degree have a median weekly income of $1,623, whereas those who did not graduate from college (but maybe took some college classes) have a median weekly income of $738. So in spite of the high costs of pursuing higher education, the return on investment remains strong for degreed professionals.
