The Asian nation carved into spheres was China because of the Open Door policy. The Open Door Policy refers to the 19th and 20th century policy.

China long ago allowed other countries to almost invade their terrirory and claim a section of it called "Spheres of Influence". China DID NOT want this, but other countries did it anyway, like Russia, Germany, and Japan.

America then got jealous that they were missing on the action and we took some too.
