A train moves with a uniform velocity of 36 kmh-1 for 10 s. Find the distance travelled by it.

Respuesta :

First we should convert [tex]36 km h^{-1} [/tex] to [tex]km s^{-1} [/tex]

[tex]36 km h^{-1} = \frac{36}{(60)(60)} = .01 km s^{-1} [/tex]

To find the distance travelled we use [tex]s = ut + \frac{1}{2} a t^{2} [/tex]
Where:

s = distance travelled
[tex]u = .01 km s^{-1} [/tex] (velocity)
t = 10 s (time)
[tex]a = 0 m s^{-2} [/tex] (acceleration)

By inserting these values into the equation we get:
[tex]s = (.01)(10) + \frac{1}{2} (0) (10)^{2}[/tex]
= (.01)(10)
= .1 km
