Nicolaus Steno was a brilliant scientist very dedicated to anatomy and geology. His geological studies are considered and respected even today by the most diverse academics. He is considered the father of the most basic principle of relative dating, known as the law of superposition.
In addition, he was very religious and devoted himself to Catholic life where he became a bishop.
