Artist in question is Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, more commonly known just by his first name Michelangelo. Considered the greatest artist of his time he was nicknamed Il Divino meaning ´´the divine one´´. His most famous work besides his statue of David are scenes from frescoes Genesis on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome.
