This is a debatable question based on perspective and those with more knowledge on economics.

With how taxes and tariffs are being placed, retaliation is bound to happen to international trade. On top of that, since America typically imports many items from foreign countries (hence the diverse culture within the states), this would cause struggle within the economy for certain cultural businesses.

However, this does not necessarily mean that the economy is doomed. America has experienced the Great Depression before as well as other economic falls but this does not necessarily lead to the downfall of the nation. Considering America is one of, if not, the wealthiest nations.

Hope this helps - keep in mind I don't major at all in economics but this is based further on history and past economic dooms that the states have rose up from.

It depends on what happens in the near future as well because it depends on if we pay off some debt we owe to other countries and if inflation goes up and a lot of other things.
