Good afternoon, Kathan899. The ideas of Darwin were influenced by a few people such as Jean Baptise Lamark, Charles Lyell, Thomas Malthus, and Alfred Russel Wallace. Lamark believed that traits from an organism could not be generational (passed down by generations). Charles Lyell believed that the Earth was older than anyone thought. Malthus believed that with more people in the world than resources, there would be famine and disease. Have you ever heard of A.R. (Alfred Russel) Wallace? No because Darwin did not share his credit for it. A.R. Wallace sent his paper to Darwin and they both got credit for it, for a while. After that, Darwin published the book on his own, which is why he got credit for it and left Wallace's name out of it. These scientists influenced Darwin's on Evolution and Natural Selection because he said that organisms had evolved physically and behaviorally. He said that organisms adapt to their surroundings. Whatever your belief is on these ideas, all of these scientists influenced Darwin to his opinions. I hope I helped!! Have a great day.
Answer: First of all, James Hutton created the theory of gradualism, which allowed Darwin to understand that the Earth changes. Related to this, he also knew animals must change to survive in a changing environment because of Charles Lyell. From Lamarckism, Darwin knew to search for any patterns in changes of animals. Georges Cuvier brought to light the concept of extinction and what may arrive after it. The idea that animals would compete for resources came from Thomas Malthus. All of this information accumulated in Darwin's mind and ultimately allowed him to theorize of natural selection and evolution (even if the concept was already thought of before).
Explanation: This is just what I would put/suggest putting for plato because it gets what each scientist did, change it up a bit if you can
