Place the following tasks in order. Place the number 1 in front of the first task to be completed, 2 before the second,
and so on.
a. Check patients ’ charts for any information that may not have been included on the schedule, such as
need for premedication, payments due, or updated insurance and medical information.
b. Confirm or remind patients of their upcoming appointments.
c. Confirm the return of laboratory work.
d. Give patients ’ clinical records to the dental assisting staff to review before they see the patients.
e. Keep the dental healthcare team and patients informed of any changes that will affect their
schedules.
f. Pull the patients ’ clinical records, and review the procedures that are going to be completed the following
day.
g. Spend 5 to 10 minutes with the dental healthcare team to review the daily schedule.
h. Type the daily schedule (or print out from the computer).
i. Update schedules throughout the day as changes occur.
j. Use the call list to fill any openings in the day ’ s schedule.
